Head and neck cancer

Head and neck tumors comprise a variety of cancer diseases in the oral cavity, e.g. the lips, tongue, base of the mouth, palate, throat, salivary glands, tonsils, larynx, nose, and the sinuses.

Almost 140,000 new cases and 65,000 deaths attributable to cancer of the oral cavity, the pharynx, and the larynx were estimated for Europe in 2012 (see here). In men these head-and-neck cancers are the 7th most frequent cancers, and they are three times as frequent in men than in women.
