Our team

oncgnostics GmbH has a R&D and a production department. Our lab team ist working on further improving the CE IVD marked GynTect assay, furthermore they are developing other assay systems (POCT, automation) and working on our pipeline projects on other cancer entities.

The whole company is working under a quality management system that is certified according to EN ISO 13485.

Kerstin Brox

Economist - finances

Kerstin Brox is responsible for the Finance Department at oncgnostics GmbH. She is one of the co-founders of oncgnostics, and she has been part of oncgnostics GmbH since it was first dreamt up in 2010. 10 years of professional experience in the credit industry at a major bank, and several years as Procurement Manager at a major marketing agency in Jena, provided the ideal professional background.

Ines Sommer

Ines Sommer

Marketing and Communications

Ines Sommer is responsible for Marketing and Communications at oncgnostics since October 2018. After studying communication sciences (B.A.) and radio journalism (M.A.), Ines Sommer worked as a freelance journalist. Moreover, her job at a Leipzig PR agency has enabled her to understand both sides of the media industry. She now brings her experience in corporate communications and marketing at a hospital into oncgnostics.

Dana Schmidt

Dana Schmidt

Pharma-Biotechnologist – QM Officer, Data Protection Officer, Assay Development

Dana Schmidt has been working at oncgnostics GmbH since October 2012. As Quality Management Officer, she is responsible for the establishment and ongoing development of the company’s own QM system, which has been certified according to ISO13485. As part of the development team, she also brought GynTect to market, drawing her research and development expertise from her many years working in the in-vitro diagnostics industry.

Anne Hengst

Anne Hengst

Biotechnologist – Development, Quality Control, Quality Management

Anne Hengst has joined oncgnostics in September 2013 and works since then in Research & Development, especially in assay development. With her strong molecular and bioinformatic background as well as the experience she has collected during development of GynTect into a CE IVD product, she is an important member of the R&D team. Moreover, Anne heads Quality Control, and she is deputy QM Officer.

Dr. Juliane Hippe

Dr. Juliane Hippe

Biologist – Production Management

Juliane Hippe is part of the oncgnostics team since it’s formation, starting with her diploma thesis, continuing with her PhD thesis, both in the Gynaecological Molecular Biology working group of the gynaecology clinic of the Jena University Women’s Hospital. With both scientific projects she made important contributions to the scientific basis of oncgnostics’ first product: GynTect. After completing her PhD with us, she fully joined the company. She is now mainly responsible for production control and monitoring as well as further development of the product GynTect.

Dr. Anne Hennig

Nutritionist – Research & Development, Project Management

Anne Hennig joined oncgnostics GmbH in April 2018, to strengthen Research and Development with her profound scientific background. She received her PhD in the field of molecular cell biology. Anne is responsible for the coordination of all R&D projects at oncgnostics GmbH. She is also in charge of projects that focus on further developing GynTect (establishing point-of-care systems, automation) as well as head and neck tumor detection.

Kristin Knoll

Kristin Knoll has been working in R&D at oncgnostics GmbH since June 2015, carrying out work on adapting GynTect assays for extended applications. Already with her Master’s thesis at oncgnostics GmbH, she made an essential contribution to the development of GynTect. She now is also responsible for customer management, and as an application specialist she advises and trains existing and potential customers in integrating GynTect into their workflow.

Anna-Bawany Hums

Molecular Biologist – Research & Development

Anna-Bawany Hums has been part of the oncgnostics GmbH team since May 2017. Before that, she completed her master’s thesis at the Gynaecological Molecular Biology working group of the Gynaecology Clinic of the Jena University Women’s Hospital focused on the detection of ovarian cancer on the basis DNA methylation markers for another pipeline project. She is part of the research and development team and is responsible for the implementation of the QM system for the pipeline product for the detection of head and neck tumours.

Dr. Carolin Dippmann

Pharma-Biotechnologist – Research & Development/Head of HNSCC project

We miss our family member Carolin Dippmann so much! Carolin was an important part of oncgnostics since July 2017, when she started her PhD thesis in cooperation with the University Women’s Hospital Jena. She then became full member of the team, leading projects in head and neck cancer test development as well as next gen sequencing. In June 2022 she has lost her personal fight against cancer. In our hearts she will always be with us.

Theresa Erler works in the field of research and development and is part of the team working on the pipeline product for head and neck tumor detection. She already made a decisive contribution to the head and neck tumor detection pipeline project with her master’s thesis, which she wrote at oncgnostics GmbH.

Kristina Wunsch, well-experienced biology laboratory technician with long-lasting academic and industry experience, has been part of oncgnostics GmbH since October 2012. She made and makes essential contributions to the further development of GynTect, brings her experience into several R&D projects. Besides, she is responsible for laboratory organisation.

Katja Schubert joined our company at the beginning of November 2021. The trained biological-technical assistant with over 13 years of professional experience actively supports us in the laboratory and laboratory organization.

Dr. Bettina Stieber

Dr. Bettina Stieber

Biologist – Research & Development

Bettina Stieber works in Research and Development at oncgnostics GmbH since September 2019. Bettina is a biologist and holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology with a focus on Point of Care Diagnostics which she already performed in the diagnostics industry and where she collected further professional experience before she joined oncgnostics. Bettina is involved in several projects, and is responsible for project management, together with Anne Hennig.

Carolin Hoyer

Carolin Hoyer strengthens the oncgnostics research and development team since May 2022. In the field of R&D, the pharmaceutical biotechnologist is mainly working on the development of our pipeline products in the field of head and neck cancer diagnostics. Carolin already contributed substantially to the project with her master’s thesis, which dealt with the optimisation of non-invasive sample collection and preanalytics in the head and neck tumor diagnostics area.

Dr. Laura Wiehle

Biologist – Research & Development

Laura Wiehle has been working at oncgnostics since September 2022. The Biologist did her PhD at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg with a focus on DNA (de)methylation. Besides coordinating research at oncgnostics, she is actively involved in the field of head and neck tumours as well as in Oxford Nanopore Sequencing projects.

Daria Meyer

Bioinformatician – Research & Development

Daria Meyer has been working on her doctorate at oncgnostics GmbH in cooperation with the University of Jena since the beginning of 2021. The bioinformatician’s focus is on Oxford Nanopore Sequencing. She is working on new algorithms and methods for identifying new markers for the detection of head and neck tumours based on specific DNA methylation.

Jun Chen

Medical technologist – Project Manager China Division

Jun Chen has been responsible for the China area as project manager since the beginning of 2023. The native speaker not only supports communication in the increasingly intensive cooperation with our Chinese partner GeneoDx. The medical technologist (B. Eng.) with a background in human medicine also contributes with his work experience in the biotechnology industry to our research and development.
